Thoughts about the September 16 CTIP meeting...
  • If we were to share Web 2.xtools we have used at home or at school, what tool(s) would you be willing to share?

from Janelle- I am dabbling with google tools... but not all of them and certainly not an expert, but could share what I'm doing. Also... I've used netvibes aggregator for a year... but transitioned to igoogle, but can share that as well... and compare the two
(and did you want me to answer here or on the discussionpage? protocol and keeping organization is tough when I'm so inexperienced

from Janelle - discussion on blog policy and using things like wikis with kids... (and sorry... haven't read this doc through...no time for this yet)

Albemarle County Public Schools' acceptable use policy (including the Internet safety component) and Internet safety program were updated during the 2007-08 school year. The Virginia Department of Education has approved our plan.
Central staff will be working over the next few months to ensure school-based staff, including, but not limited to, Library Media Specialists, School Counselors, Bullying Prevention contacts, Health teachers, and Web Page Coordinators (school-based Internet Safety team), are informed about the curriculum and have opportunities for professional development, as well as planning activities for implementation. ACPS will work with the Commonwealth Attorney's office, the Police Department, and the Sheriff's Department, as appropriate, to provide professional development and other resources to our schools.
As with all curricula, the principal is ultimately responsible for overseeing implementation. Click here to see the curriculum. Please share this with your Internet Safety team. Please direct any questions to Becky Fisher, Assistant Director for Information Management and Instructional Technology.

Thoughts about the October 15 meeting

CTIPpers-
Here’s what our agenda looks like for October 15. Please note the two different locations. If you are going to participate in both parts of the day, lunch is on your own.

COB 241 – please park in the middle or lower lots at COB! Employees can get ticketed for parking in the upper lot.
Geospatial Technologies “Survey” 8:30 - 9:00
Overview of Arc Explorer Java Edition 9:00 - 12:00 (Chris Bunin)

ARC Rms 1 and 2 -
Collaboratively plan or review technology-rich lessons and units around specific curriculum topics 12:00ish – 4:00
How this will be organized is totally dependent upon who shows up and what they want to accomplish (I heard back from 9 of you that you were interested). Here’s an idea of the topics of interest I received:
· Social studies projects for upper elementary including stuff like Voicethread
· iMovie Math activities for any age
· Maybe some people would bring and share?
· review tech rich lessons

The next CTIP meeting will be on November 19. We will plan an agenda that addresses optional, special interests in the AM and CTIP work in the PM. It will be held at ARC.

* NOTE: Since I sent this e-mail out, the Division's Internet Safety Team has scheduled this date as a full-day workshop on Internet Safety. More information will follow. *
